Real Estate Trends Today in America with Terry Bradshaw
The Amityville Horror is a book published in 1977, and written by Jay Anson, which is loosely based on true life. It depicts the events happening to a family shortly after they move into a supposedly haunted house. Many movie versions of the Amityville Horror were made throughout the years, the most recent being the 2005 remake starring Ryan Reynolds. Amityville is located on Long Island in New York State.
Illegal Haunted Houses in NYS
In New York State it is illegal to sell a haunted house without disclosing this information to potential buyers. A 1991 court ruling returned a down payment to a couple after they found out the house they were attempting to buy had a reputation for being haunted. The house was part of the local haunted house tour and featured in a Reader’s Digest article. The NY Supreme Court allowed the buyers to back out of the real estate contract since they weren’t informed of the houses haunted status when they first made the purchase offer.
